A Brief History of The Hill Tavern
John Waldron, was granted permission to build a dwelling in Clent Hills by the Rt. Hon. Lord Lyttleton, Lord of the Manor. The subsequent buildings were occupied by 1842. Taking advantage of the Duke of Wellington's Beer House Act of 1830, Waldron purchased a licence from the customs and excise and turned the dwelling house into a beer house.
Situated in Clent Hills at the top of Adam's Hill the one roomed beer house was named
Hill Tavern.
